Prohibition on keeping poultry
In order to prevent the spread of the avian influenza virus, poultry and other birds must be protected from contact with wild birds between February 8th and May 31st. The birds should either be kept indoors, or their outdoor area must be fully fenced and covered with a sufficiently dense mesh (25mm holes) or other similar means.
Notification of outdoor keeping of poultry or other birds:
Anyone who keeps poultry or other birds outdoors between February 8th and May 31st must notify the Veterinary Enforcement Officer in advance about the outdoor keeping of poultry. The notification must be made in writing. The notification can be made informally via email to tillsynsveterinar(at)korsholm.fi.
The notification should specify which bird species it concerns, the number of birds, and an explanation of how the birds are protected from wild birds in the outdoor enclosure.
