Processing of personal data
In the municipality of Korsholm, data protection is an integral part of the activities that the municipality carries out as a public authority. All the municipal officials are aware of the purpose of data protection and the Finnish Act on the Openness of Government Activities. The officials’ duty of non-disclosure is based on the employment contract.
It is necessary for the municipality to process personal data in order to produce and offer various services that the municipality is responsible for. Personal data is always processed for a specific purpose and only to the amount necessary with regard to the purpose of the processing. The registers contain personal data such as names, identity numbers, addresses, telephone numbers and electronic addresses.
Personal data are collected only for a predefined purpose and never without a reason. Personal data can be handed over to another authority only on the basis of law or a decision made by an authority.
The processing of personal data requires legal bases that are primarily the exercise of public authority, statutory obligations or a contract. More information on processing of personal data can be found in the privacy statements formulated by the municipality.
The municipality does not profile customers based on collected data.
Personal data will never be handed over to a commercial operator without the consent of the data subject.
Rights of the data subject
The Articles 12–23 of the General Data Protection Regulation govern the rights of the data subject.
A written request can be made to the controller for examining the data. The request cannot be made by telephone. The identity of the person who is making the request will be checked before handing out the information.
