The Municipal Council, which is elected every four years, has the highest decision-making power in the municipality. The Municipal Council elects the members of other decision-making bodies. Of these, the Municipal Board has a central position, as it is responsible for the municipal administration and finances as well as for the preparation and enforcement of the Municipal Council’s decisions.
In addition to the elected representatives, the municipality has members of staff, municipal officials and employees, who handle the provision of municipal services and day-to-day administration. The Municipal Mayor is the highest office holder in the municipality. The duties of office holders include preparing the matters that are dealt with in trust bodies.
